Music

Whether it's folk or jazz, contemporary pop or classical, our congregation loves music, and a wide variety of it. Our musical life includes lively hymn-singing, choral offerings by our choir, and guest musicians.

Services with a special emphasis on music have included:
  • Musical tribute to Pete Seeger
  • Annual talent show
  • Exploring and celebrating our hymnal
  • Christmas Eve service that is almost all music

Church choir
Anyone who loves to sing is welcome to join the church choir. On most Sundays the choir gathers before the service to practice the selected hymns, and then during the service they stand before the congregation to help lead hymn-singing. The choir also meets at other times to learn and rehearse special music that may include rounds, 4-part choral arrangements, and songs with rhythm instruments and other instruments.

Our choir has gifted singers and musicians but the emphasis is always on creating a positive and nourishing experience (for both choir members and the congregation) rather than performance. If you like music and like to sing, we invite and encourage you to join! 



















































Music at Oaklandon comes in all shapes, sizes, forms, and flavors.
Children and youth illustrated the words in a hymn for the 11/9/2014 service. This video was the prelude that day, and then later everyone sang the hymn as we watched the beautiful pictures. (Note: there may be a short delay at the start of the video.)
